The Latest and Greatest Wireless Headphone Hits

Have you ever seen the movie Her? If not, try to. In this Spike Jones futuristic film, a lonely man falls in love with his computer operating system named Samantha (like Alexa.) During his amorous affair, he wears barely visible earbuds to keep their exchanges flowing seamlessly, as he goes about his day (and night.)

You may deem this relationship outlandish and far from becoming our reality, but I beg you to look around. Each day, we see multiple humans walking around with little white sticks protruding from their skulls, as they deeply engage in a different dimension. If you ask one in that zone how to get to the train, you’ll be met with eyes that flinch and then unglaze – as if you’ve disturbed the person from a deep sleep. Then your face will flush as you realize you’ve intruded upon their convo or podcast. If you’re keen enough, you’ll also take notice that despite polite smiles, you’re being judged as lazy for not Googling your question!

But since everyone is doing it, CYA is here to give you some great wireless headphone recommendations. Time to dive in. I mean, regular life is limited. Been there. Done that. Right?

Apple Wireless Headphones

Apple’s popular wireless headphones are their AirPods with charging case for $144.00. They turn on and connect automatically, plus they’re easy to set up with all of your Apple devices. And to make sure you have information upon request, they also have a “Hey Siri” feature.

As always, Apple one-upped itself and remains on the cutting edge in this field. In addition to doing all that the AirPods do, their new Airpods Pro are sweat and water-resistant and promise immersive sound and active noise cancelation. Their microphones detect external vibrations and then cancel them. This feature can be compared to the noise cancellation feature in the new Beats Solo Pro headphones. To achieve a more customizable fit, the Pros have 3 sizes of soft silicone tips.  They’ll last 5 hours on a single charge, and have a wireless charging case that delivers more than 24 hours of battery life. There is also a transparency mode that allows you to stream in ambient sounds along with the music you are listening to, which can be helpful at airports or busy streets.  All this for $249.

Samsung Wireless Headphones

Consumer Reports is an authority when it comes to making good purchasing decisions. They recommend the Samsung Galaxy Buds, claiming they don’t just sound better than AirPods (Not AirPods Pro) but are also among the best-scoring Bluetooth headphones CR has ever tested. They’re a little cheaper, too. The Galaxy Buds usually sell for around $130. CR says, “The AirPods don’t sound terribly—far from it – but when you listen back-to-back with the Samsung Galaxy Buds, the difference is undeniable. You don’t have to be an audio snob to hear it.”

Sennheiser True Wireless Earbuds

Would you like to listen to your favorite music as you simultaneously make your calls? Well, it’s truly possible with these bluetooth babes. The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds for $210 allow you to remain aware of your surroundings while you listen and chat wirelessly – without having to remove them! With fingertip control, you can easily manage music, calls, and your personal voice assistant. Plus they’re splash resistant, so if you’re planning on wearing them by the pool, your sounds will be safe.

Sony Sound

For $228, there’s another model to consider. The Sony WF-1000XM3 True Wireless Bluetooth Noise Canceling in-Ear Headphones offer an all-new Bluetooth chip that sharpens up music synchronization and has a noise-canceling processor. These headphones boast smart listening by adaptive sound control by automatically switching to ambient sound mode based on your activity. Along with the charging case, comes two of each size triple comfort earbuds and two of each size long hybrid silicone rubber earbuds. The battery can live up to 24 hours.
